I think the pic is good but prefer more Ninja drawing sword or throwing shurikens, its a work of art no doubt but not the sort of thing that goes on the wall. No thats saved for a really cool Ninja weilding a badass sword or killing multiple dudes with more painting, you know, good fight art! :)

WHO THE HELL CARES!! The picture is good, and if im not mistaken she doesnt appear to be an expert with swords. So perhaps shes just holding it the most comfortable way, she looks like shes trying to hold someone off. And she looks a little afraid or nervous, Im guessing shes a novice and doesnt know any better. So stop worrying about such mundane details. The picture is awesome.

If you really want to know about samurai hand position there are certain things about samurai that are always consistent.

Samurai, regardless of handedness, *always* carried the sword on the left hip. It was *always* wielded "right handed" when held using both hands... meaning right hand just under the hilt, and the left hand at the bottom, near what western swords refer to as the pommel (japanese swords typically didn't need any extra weight to counter-balance the sword, so they don't really have an enlarged pommel). This was done to give extra leverage on the blade, and to allow it to be swung extremely quickly in snap motions where one hand would go one direction while the other in the opposite.

Well.. they comment because USUALLY if you draw something, you should research it first. Sure, elves aren't Japanese but if so, why use the Japanese motif at all? The art is GREAT, the dynamics are just wrong.
