View CommentsMikkiGreat, but she is pulling the arrow too far back Posted by Guest on Sat 13 Mar 2004 11:38:44 AM EST DemonNo she's not I took archery and your suppose to pull it back that far Posted by Guest on Thu 08 Jul 2004 12:54:25 PM EDT Magnus BergqvistThe you have a very weird style of shooting. Only type of bow you pull that far back is with a compound-bow with a release. For normal recurves or longbows you put the index-finger in the corner of your mouth, the way she holds it she risks getting the string to catch in her ear, and she will have problems getting a consistant shot as she cannot guatrantee that she will draw the same length ever time. (My exprience with archery is: shooting a longbow for 3 years...) Posted by Guest on Thu 08 Jul 2004 07:17:26 PM EDT bertrand@pandore.net2 possibilities: 1) She is an elf or such a sort of creature that can afford use the bow the way she want (very hi dex or supernatural ability to not hurt herself) 2) She is a newbie and the ear is gonna be hurt .... I do prefer solution #1 but uh... Posted by Guest on Sun 11 Jul 2004 01:55:42 PM EDT I alcarin NascaarionWell she's not an elf. Look at her ear. Though She could be some kind of a super natural creature. Posted by Guest on Sun 25 Jul 2004 08:56:39 PM EDT Fear-the-drowwho cares whether she is shooting the bow wrong or write it is a great drawing and obviously wasn't ment for an archery handbook or something like that... duh Posted by Guest on Wed 18 Aug 2004 01:34:54 AM EDT Magnus BergqvistOh, I definetly agree that it is a very good drawing. The rest of it is perfect, and if you're not an archer then you won't care about this minor thing either. Posted by Guest on Wed 18 Aug 2004 12:24:02 PM EDT LagunaNother possibility... due to the angle she could be drawing the bow to her mouth but the angle seems to make it further... extreemly nice pic btw Posted by Guest on Mon 11 Oct 2004 07:38:28 PM EDT SirynWow!Sei molto bravo con i disegni! Posted by Guest on Mon 09 May 2005 09:19:53 PM EDT KilgorinShe looks like she is aiming to peirce the armor of an on coming foe. The arrow is pulled back that far to hit the target with greater speed and power Posted by Guest on Thu 26 May 2005 12:01:45 PM EDT ElenariaI am an archer, using an wooden longbow. I do not shoot like that. I would love to be a practitioner of kyudo (japanese archery). Then I would shoot something like that. I would also like to be able to use Mongolian bows. Once again, a different style. There are MANY different ways, all over the world. I remember whining about this when I first saw it in the book, but I like the picture too much so I'm not any longer. As always, the linework is gorgeous. Posted by Guest on Sat 28 May 2005 03:08:13 AM EDT Chaosed0well, if this is an elf, elves are supposed to have SUPERNATURAL fighting abilities, so i guess she could pull it that far and aim it that way. Posted by Guest on Mon 23 Jan 2006 08:27:07 PM EST LyraMy favourite of yours so far (though I am still browsing...). There is such a windy purpose in this, if that makes sense. The fact that her hair is all blowing one way, as well as her clothes pulls our attention in the direction the arrow is going. Even the clouds above add to this feel of everything going the same way. The woman herself looks veryt clear-sighted. She doesn't seem angry, sad or scared, but calm and almost detached. Purposeful, but seemingly without malice or personal feelings about whatever she's doing. I very much like! Great work! Posted by Guest on Thu 26 Jan 2006 08:03:32 AM EST Montana HillbillyboyJudging by where the bowstring is attatched to the bow, I would guess that she also has supernatural strength too!!! Great job alltogether nontheless. Posted by Guest on Thu 04 May 2006 11:52:51 PM EDT MurchI love the art, but it seems that most artists don't get the details about archery right. :-S Besides the part about drawing too far, the feathers of the arrow are on the wrong side. With the single feather on the side of the bow the arrow might not fly true, so you take care that it points away from the bow. Oh well, hardly anyone would notice though. Great picture. Posted by Guest on Sun 18 Mar 2007 04:20:40 PM EDT Magnus BergqvistMurch: I agree it isn't the normal way of having the feathers on in that way when shooting. I have seen it be done though, as some people shooting longbows use the single feather as a plunger to guide the arrow sideways. A bigger problem is that she seems to hold the arrow with her thumb, instead of letting it rest on the back of her hand. =^_^= Ah well. Still love the picture though.
