Just at a guess, I'd say that the pose of hte couple was deliberate, and was specified as part of the commission - it makes if a lot easier for the couple that might have commissioned it to 'step into' the scene, as it were, as I gather that the image is supposed to represent an idealised version of their own wedding. As usual, the level of detail is stunning - I can't say too many times how much the texture and shading work on these impress me.

not really too sure about the bows on her dress...but nice picture....i agree with the other guy...i think that they should be facing towards us...makes the picture seem more ...interesting
